Hi

My name is Felipe Gaona, I'm a Hung Kuen practitioner from Chile, I'm just beginning since I've been training for just two years now, and I feel like I have a lot to learn.

I've also been following Pavel Tsatsouline's work, I just got the Simple & Sinister book and I love it since it's really simple (of course), but I begun to wonder if there are any specific kettlebell workouts that could improve my Hung Kuen.

I know Sifu Pavel Macek works with kettlebells and they seem to be very popular in Crossfit too, so if anyone has some tips I'd love to hear them.

Thanks!

- Felipe

Felipe,

welcome to the forum!

Besides teaching and practicing Hung Kyun under  Lam family, I am also a student of Pavel Tsatsouline and certified StrongFirst kettlebell instructor (SFG1, SFG2), bodyweight instructor (SFB) and barbell instructor (SFL).

My recommendaction:

  • Attend 1-Day StrongFirst SFG Kettlebell Course
  • Follow the Simple & Sinister program to the letter
  • Once you fulfill the "Simple" standards (ie. 100 one-hand swings with 32 kg i 5 minutes, and 5+5 Get-ups with 32 kg in 10 minutes), send me an email, and I will tell you what to do next.

Btw., I am currently responsible for strength and conditioning training of elite Czech MMA fighters, including the only Czech UFC fighter Viktor Pesta. Guess what they do as their fundamental program? S&S. If it is good enough for them, it should be good enough for all of us.

Hi

Thanks for the welcome message and advice, it's good to know that I can follow the Simple & Sinister program for fundamental training, I'm currently doing it with a 16kg kettlebell so I still have plenty of work to do before fulfilling the simple standards.

I'd love to go to a StrongFirst Kettlebell Course, but I've been looking and there aren't any instructors for the program in Chile, which is a common problem here I guess, maybe in the future!

Thanks again!

- Felipe
